If you choose a glass shower enclosure, you need to know how to care for this upgrade and keep the room looking picture perfect.

How to Clean Your Glass Shower Enclosure

A glass shower enclosure can take your bathroom from so-so to spectacular. Not only does this home improvement upgrade add value, but it also helps to create the illusion of a larger space. Glass enclosures also offer designer benefits. An old, outdated bathroom with a heavy fabric or plastic shower curtain may not have the look and feel that you're going for.
Trading yesterday's look for a more modern design that includes a glass shower enclosure provides a contemporary design with a spa-like design. This update creates a relaxing space that's tranquil, elegant and fully functional.
If you're ready to trade your outdated bathroom for a modern masterpiece, you need to know how to care for it to extend the life of your new upgrades and keep the room looking picture perfect. This includes understanding the in's and out's of cleaning a glass shower door or enclosure. Before you start scrubbing away, take a look at what you need to know when it comes to maintaining your glass shower.
Squeegee Daily
You might think that your shower door would stay clean after you've used it. After all, it's being pelted with clean water. You're clean, so why wouldn't your shower be clean also?
If only keeping your shower clean was that easy. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner residue that the water whisks away can easily end up on your door. Hard water (water that is excessively mineral-rich) can also leave marks behind.
You want to stop the soap scum and hard water deposits from building up on your custom cut glass enclosure. Luckily, a simple squeegee after every use can drastically reduce the mess and keep your shower looking and feeling clean.
Store your squeegee in a convenient place that you can grab easily after your shower. The trick here is to squeegee the door clean immediately after your shower is over, before the water dries. You need a wet surface for this type of daily cleaning.
Squeegeeing across a dry piece of glass isn't recommended and won't do much to keep your shower clean. Think of how you clean your car's windshield. You wouldn't run the wipers without rain or a cleaning spray first.
Clean With Natural Products
You might forget about squeegeeing once, twice, or even a few days in a row. If you start to notice a foggy or dulling build-up after a while, simply wiping it away may not work.
You can choose from several cleaning products and solutions. But if you prefer to go with an all-natural choice, vinegar and baking soda can keep your shower clean without using chemicals. Spray a solution of white vinegar mixed with equal parts water onto the glass and wipe it clean.
If you still have residue left behind on the shower enclosure, make a paste with baking soda and water or equal parts baking soda and salt. Rub the paste on the door with a wet washcloth, and then gently remove it with more water. Make sure that you rinse the surface well, cleaning all the paste from the glass surface.
Scrub With Chemicals
If you don't mind using man-made cleaning products, you have multiple choices. If you're starting to feel dizzy from the staggering array of glass cleaners on the market, talk to a pro.
Ask your glass installer what brand or type of cleaner they use and recommend. This can cut down on your shopping time and help you to find the product that works best for your shower.
